OVERVIEW

Back in spring 2020, I only had little experience in Data Science (only took 1 coding course on R and researched a bit on Tableau), but because I was interested in learning more about data analysis and creating visual aids to help people understand data better, I participated in a DubsTech Data Science workshop on creating data visualizations with Microsoft Power BI. It was also during the time when COVID-19 was still fairly new to some people, so I thought it would be a great opportunity to inform/educate people about the spread of the Coronavirus in the United States of America. Throughout the workshop, I was able to learn briefly about the basics and features I can use in Power BI. I then got some hands on experience by first collecting COVID-19 data from the New York Times Github Repo, cleaning up the dataset, and playing around with the visualization tools afterwards. Despite being my first time using Power BI, I am glad I was able to generate a meaningful, interactive visualization at the end. I enjoyed the process of data analysis and creating visualizations, and this project sparked my interest in studying Data Science.
